Nigerian boxing star Elizabeth Oshoba extended her flawless professional record to 9-0-0 after defeating Czech fighter Lenka Volejnikova on points in a dominant six-round bout at York Hall, London.
Oshoba secured a unanimous victory, with all three judges scoring the fight 60-54 in her favor. The WBC silver featherweight champion showcased her skill and precision, further cementing her status as a rising force in women’s boxing.
“I’m absolutely thrilled with this victory. The plan was to box smart, and that’s exactly what I did,” Oshoba told DIP CONNECTS NEWS.
The 25-year-old, who became Nigeria’s first female world boxing champion in 2024, controlled the fight from start to finish, using superior footwork and hand speed to outclass her opponent.
“Every fight is a step towards greatness. This wasn’t just about winning but also about improving my technique and showcasing my versatility in the ring,” she added.
Currently ranked 10th in the World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight division and fourth in the super lightweight category, Oshoba continues to gain international recognition.
Her impressive career has seen her claim both the IBO female super-featherweight title and the WBC silver featherweight championship, the latter secured with a 10th-round knockout of Italy’s Michela Braga at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena.
“My goal remains the same – to be number one in the world. This fight brings me one step closer to that dream,” Oshoba said.
“I’m looking forward to my next challenge and hopefully a world title defense soon. I’m ready for whoever they put in front of me.”
The fight, part of the Neilson boxing promotion card, saw Oshoba employ her signature aggressive style, combining powerful combinations with strategic defense.
Although no titles were on the line, she approached the bout with her usual determination, much to the delight of her growing fanbase.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey. The best is yet to come,” she told our correspondent.
