The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has, for the second time in 2025, retained the country’s benchmark interest rate at 27.50%.
CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, made the announcement on Tuesday during a press briefing following the 300th MPC meeting held in Abuja.
“The Committee was unanimous in its agreement to hold all parameters,” Cardoso stated.
This decision marks the second pause in interest rate adjustments this year, following a series of six consecutive hikes in 2024 aimed at tackling inflation and stabilising the economy.
