The Federal Ministry of Education has expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for the official donation of the Model College, Onijagagan, as the temporary take-off site for the newly established Federal University of Health Sciences, Abeokuta.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, described the donation as a timely and strategic move that demonstrates Governor Abiodun’s unwavering commitment to education, strong partnership with the Federal Government, and visionary leadership.
Dr. Alausa noted that the gesture directly addresses the university’s immediate infrastructure challenges, particularly as initial federal funding had only covered basic preliminary works such as perimeter fencing. The donated facility will now enable the university to commence academic activities without delay, laying a strong foundation for delivering quality, specialized education in the health sciences.
The Minister further stated that the donation aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Federal Ministry of Education’s Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI). NESRI focuses on critical areas such as STEMM education, reducing the number of out-of-school children, improving TVET, promoting girl-child education, advancing digitalisation and data application, and strengthening quality assurance systems.
On behalf of the Ministry, Dr. Alausa extended sincere gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun and the people of Ogun State for this significant contribution. He emphasized that it serves as a powerful example of how proactive state-level interventions can complement federal efforts to accelerate national development.
The Ministry is confident that this noble gesture will yield long-term benefits—fostering a healthier, better-educated generation capable of building a resilient and prosperous Nigeria.
