Man Slumps as Wife Delivers Triplets in Kogi

A moment of overwhelming emotion turned dramatic at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday, when a man, Adamu Muhammed Tenimu, fainted upon learning that his wife had delivered a set of triplets.

According to eyewitnesses, Tenimu, who had been anxiously awaiting the news of his wife’s delivery, collapsed shortly after being informed that she had given birth to three girls. He was immediately attended to by hospital staff and sympathisers, who managed to revive him.

Hospital sources confirmed that both the mother and her newborn daughters are in stable condition and are being monitored in the neonatal unit. The babies weighed 1.8kg, 2.0kg, and 2.3kg respectively and are said to be responding well to care.

After regaining consciousness, Tenimu—a job seeker—spoke with journalists, expressing mixed feelings of gratitude and concern. “I thank God for this miracle, but I’m confused and sad. I didn’t know we were expecting triplets. We only planned for one baby, and now we don’t even have the financial means to pay for hospital bills, let alone take care of three newborns,” he said tearfully.

He explained that due to financial constraints, the pregnancy had not been regularly scanned, leaving them unprepared for the unexpected blessing. “This is a great gift, but the burden is heavy. I don’t have money for diapers or baby food. I’m lost on where to begin,” he lamented.

Witnesses and well-wishers confirmed the family’s situation, calling on government agencies, NGOs, and kind-hearted individuals to step in and support them with medical supplies, food, and financial aid.

A family member said, “The babies are healthy, but this family is in urgent need of help. We appeal to the Kogi State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to come to their aid.”

Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a colleague of Tenimu, described him as hardworking and law-abiding, adding that the situation deserves public attention. “He needs all the support he can get,” he said.

Another supporter, Sikiru Olamide, added, “The joy of childbirth should not be marred by fear and lack. Let us rally around this family. They need us now more than ever.”

Support drives have since begun, with calls for donations of baby essentials, food items, and contributions to cover hospital expenses.
