The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the elimination of scores of Boko Haram terrorists and the destruction of one of their key strongholds in Borno State through precision airstrikes conducted under Operation Hadin Kai.
According to the NAF, the air raid took place in the early hours of Friday, targeting fleeing insurgents in Bita—a well-known Boko Haram enclave in Nigeria’s North-East.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the coordinated assault represents a significant step forward in dismantling the operational capabilities of terrorist groups threatening national security in the region.
“The Nigerian Air Force, through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, has recorded a major operational success against Boko Haram terrorists,” the statement said.
“In the early hours of today, NAF combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on fleeing terrorists in Bita, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents in what has been described as one of the most decisive blows against the group in recent times.”
The operation, executed under the cover of darkness, was described as highly coordinated and strategically significant. Ground troops have since launched clearance and follow-up operations to consolidate the gains made from the air assault.
The NAF reassured Nigerians of its continued dedication to defending the nation's territorial integrity and safeguarding law-abiding citizens.
“All necessary measures are being taken to ensure that terrorist elements have no safe haven anywhere within the country,” the statement concluded.
