FME Condemns Examination Malpractice and Assault on Vice Principal of Complete Child Development College, Akure

The Federal Ministry of Education has expressed strong condemnation of the disturbing incident at Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure, Ondo State, where suspected thugs—allegedly hired by the parents of a student—assaulted the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Rotifa. The attack occurred during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), as the Vice Principal was carrying out his official duty of ensuring the exam's integrity.

The Ministry applauds the prompt intervention of the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the Ondo State Police Command, which led to the arrest of the suspects, including Mrs. Dorcas Asije and four others. The Ministry calls for a thorough investigation and prosecution of all involved, to serve as a deterrent to similar acts in the future.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed the Ministry’s zero tolerance stance against examination malpractice, assault on education personnel, and all unethical conduct by students, parents, or guardians. He emphasized that students found guilty of malpractice will face disciplinary measures in accordance with national examination regulations, and parents or guardians who support or engage in such criminal actions will be prosecuted under the law.

Dr. Alausa further urged all schools to immediately report any threats, intimidation, or misconduct during examinations to the appropriate authorities and law enforcement agencies. The Ministry, in collaboration with state ministries of education, security agencies, and examination bodies, is committed to safeguarding the integrity and security of the nation’s examination processes.

The Federal Ministry of Education stands in full solidarity with the leadership and staff of Complete Child Development College, and with all educators nationwide who uphold the principles of discipline, accountability, and academic excellence.
