Aisha Yesufu Apologises to Adamolekun Over ADC Committee Name Mix-Up

Prominent activist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) member, Aisha Yesufu, has issued a public apology to former Executive Director of Enough is Enough Nigeria, Yemi Adamolekun, following a “mix-up” concerning her inclusion in the party’s Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee.

The issue arose on Wednesday when Adamolekun expressed surprise on social media at seeing her name listed as a committee member. Tagging Yesufu and ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi on X, she questioned the party’s process:

“ADC! ADC! ADC! How many times did I call you? This is not how to build credibility o! Please show me evidence of when I joined your party! Na wa….”

Responding the same day, Abdullahi clarified that the committee was intended to be expert-driven rather than purely partisan. He explained that not all members of the ADC Policy and Manifesto Committee are party members or politicians, as the party believes developing workable public policies should not be left to politicians alone.

He added that a vetting process had been conducted and that all recommended individuals were meant to be notified and to give their consent. Despite the confusion, he expressed hope that Adamolekun would still serve on the committee due to her extensive experience.

On Friday, Yesufu, a member of the ADC’s Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee, publicly apologised for the mix-up, writing on X:

“This is inexcusable, and on behalf of my party, accept my apologies for this mix-up. We do not take you and your need to have a better Nigeria for granted. Like you rightly pointed out, you ought to have been informed and your consent gotten before your name was published. This is well noted, and going forward we will continue to ensure due diligence. Thank you for calling our attention to this. We can only get better when we get such feedback and improve accordingly.”

Yesufu also extended her apology to any other individuals who may have been listed on the 50-member panel without prior notification.

The ADC’s 50 Wise Men Policy and Manifesto Committee, chaired by former Edo State Governor John Odigie-Oyegun with Prof. Pat Utomi as Deputy Chairman, is tasked with developing a credible policy framework that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians and positions the party as a viable alternative for responsible leadership. The committee is scheduled to be formally inaugurated on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the ADC National Secretariat Conference Hall in Abuja.
