A truck overturned on Otedola Bridge in the early hours of Friday, causing severe traffic congestion along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Reports indicated that the traffic jam stretched from Otedola Bridge to Berger, leaving motorists heading into Lagos scrambling for alternative routes.
The Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad confirmed the incident on Facebook, adding that a secondary accident occurred due to the overturned truck. “In the first incident, a fully loaded truck overturned, spilling its consignments onto the road and covering about 90 per cent of the carriageway. The second accident occurred directly behind the first crash, compounding traffic disruption in the area,” the post read.
Emergency responders were immediately deployed, and motorists were urged to exercise caution while passing through the area.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed that officers were on-site managing traffic flow and assisting in rescue operations.
