Nasarawa Police Bust Kidnapping Ring, Rescue Three Victims

Operatives of the Assakio Police Division, working alongside local vigilante groups, have successfully raided kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages within the Lafia East Development Area of Lafia Local Government, Nasarawa State.

The coordinated operation led to the arrest of six suspected kidnappers and the rescue of three victims—two females and one male—who were unharmed and promptly reunited with their families.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a press statement on Friday in Lafia, the state capital.

He explained, “This operation followed a complaint lodged on 7th January 2026, reporting that suspected kidnappers invaded Angara village, abducted two females leaving behind an infant, and later kidnapped another male in the same community.

“Acting swiftly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate manhunt for the perpetrators, which culminated in the arrest of the suspects and the safe rescue of the victims.”

Nansel added that the suspects confessed to the crimes and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and prosecution under the directives of the Commissioner of Police.

He further reassured the public that the Nasarawa State Police Command remains resolute in its fight against criminality, promising sustained operations to ensure the safety of residents across the state.
