The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released the list of aspirants cleared to contest its chairmanship primaries in preparation for the 2026 local government elections in Anambra State.
The list, issued on Sunday at the party’s state secretariat in Awka, features aspirants approved to participate in the primaries across the state’s 21 local government areas.
According to a statement signed by APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, the clearance followed the successful completion of screening exercises conducted in line with the party’s guidelines.
The party explained that aspirants from all local government areas met the stipulated requirements to qualify for the primaries, which will produce candidates for the various council chairmanship positions.
Among those cleared are Kingsley Ezeagu (Aguata), Ifeanyi Chinweze (Anambra East), Tony Obierika (Anambra West), Paulinus Okafor (Anaocha), ThankGod Anago (Awka North), and Chinedu Okafor (Awka South), alongside other aspirants from the remaining councils.
APGA reaffirmed its commitment to organising transparent and credible primaries and called on party members and supporters to remain united and adhere strictly to party rules throughout the electioneering period.
The Anambra local government election is scheduled to hold on August 29, as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the polls.
