The Rivers State House of Assembly has suspended impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu following intervention by Bola Tinubu.
Lawmakers adopted the resolution on Thursday during plenary in Port Harcourt, pausing the process that began at the Assembly’s first sitting of 2026.
The House had initiated action against Siminalayi Fubara and Ngozi Odu over allegations of gross misconduct, including the demolition of the State Assembly complex and claims of spending without legislative approval, among other accusations.
The decision followed high-level intervention aimed at easing political tensions in the state.
