PDP chieftain Bode George has slammed the Federal High Court ruling that nullified the party’s national convention in Ibadan, describing the judgment as “absolutely disgusting” and vowing to appeal.
Speaking on Arise Television on Friday, George accused the presiding judge of behaving “as if she was in a beer parlour,” and criticized the recognition of the Nyesom Wike-backed faction, which effectively sidelined the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC).
“INEC monitored the Ibadan convention in line with party procedure. It is curious how the Wike faction’s convention was monitored, if at all,” George said. He added, “The judgment deviated from the matter before the judge. We will appeal. It’s unfortunate that this is the quality of people you have. I am absolutely disgusted.”
Reflecting on his years in politics, the elder statesman said, “People will come, people will go. What has happened will serve as history, a lesson for those who do well and a warning for those who create mayhem. If heavens fall, nobody will escape.”
The court had barred members of the Turaki-led NWC from parading themselves as national officers of the PDP while endorsing the Wike-led faction, triggering outrage among party elders.
