Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has categorically denied rumours linking her romantically with co-star Daniel Etim-Effiong, insisting their on-screen chemistry in her latest film is purely professional.
Ogunmola stars as Inara in the recently released YouTube movie In The Bloom After (February 6), portraying a woman abandoned by her unfaithful husband after 20 years of marriage who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and dating. Etim-Effiong plays Nachi, one of Inara’s romantic interests, leading to intimate scenes, including kisses that have stirred speculation among some viewers.
Reacting to online comments questioning the chemistry, Ogunmola dismissed any suggestion of off-screen romance. Responding sharply to one X user, she wrote:
“You are an absolute retard!! You watched to tweet stupidity and it shows. What is the entire film about, you nitwit!! You want to reduce my entire work to kissing. You are an absolute fool… We don’t even talk outside of work!”
She further clarified that she and Etim-Effiong maintain a strictly professional relationship and do not communicate outside work. Ogunmola also hinted at possibly stepping back from social media, saying she may hire a social media manager to focus on her craft:
“It’s like I’ll get a social media manager and just stop using these apps. So I can focus on what really matters… the work!! All these opinions and comments… we are human beings as well.”
Since its release, In The Bloom After has amassed over 1.5 million views, and Ogunmola and Etim-Effiong have collaborated on several projects before.
