The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has apologised to passengers and airport users following a power outage at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, which affected Terminal 1 over the weekend.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, FAAN explained that the blackout was caused by a fault in the terminal’s power changeover system during a routine switch from one electricity source to another.
The agency said its technical team acted promptly, switching electricity to a secondary source and deploying backup systems to restore services as quickly as possible.
“We acknowledge the power outage at MMIA Terminal 1 yesterday. The interruption was caused by a fault in the changeover circuit,” FAAN stated.
The authority concluded by apologising to all passengers and stakeholders affected by the disruption.
