The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has confirmed the killing of traditional ruler Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo community in Akure North Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said the attack occurred around 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday. Authorities were alerted at about 7:50 p.m. after a report from community leader Ajewole Clement, who informed officers that about six armed men stormed the monarch’s residence and forcibly took him away.
Police said the ruler was later discovered a short distance from his home with gunshot wounds and was confirmed dead at the scene.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised tactical teams alongside local security groups, including Amotekun, local hunters, and the Atuluse security outfit, to comb nearby bushes and surrounding areas in search of the attackers. Security monitoring and surveillance have since been intensified across the community to prevent further threats and reassure residents.
Jimoh assured that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the suspects, stressing that authorities remain committed to ensuring justice. He also urged members of the public with credible information to report to the nearest police station or contact the command to aid the investigation.
