Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has broken her silence on what she described as hurtful rumours circulating about her within the entertainment industry, saying the false narratives have taken an emotional toll on her.
The actress made the clarification via her Instagram page, where she condemned the spread of unverified information about individuals, describing such actions as damaging and unnecessary.
Olayode questioned the motives behind peddling false claims about people’s personal and professional lives, noting that careless words can cause deep emotional harm.
She explained that she remains open to working with filmmakers across the industry, stressing that her professional choices are guided only by her personal values and beliefs.
Addressing one of the recurring claims, the actress reaffirmed her long-standing decision not to participate in kissing scenes in movies, stating that the choice is rooted in her spiritual commitment and dedication to her faith.
“There have been different stories and lies told about me in this industry. I never addressed any, but I heard one a few days ago that truly broke my heart. I don’t think people understand how destructive some words can be and how words can wound. I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would choose to lie about another human being. To what end? Why? It is true that I wouldn’t kiss in movies,” she said.
Olayode added that criticism of her acting ability or personal preferences does not affect her, but deliberate misinformation is unfair and deeply hurtful.
“It’s okay if you don’t like me. It’s okay if you say I’m not a good actor; it’s okay if you don’t want to work with me. But lying about me is deeply wrong and hurtful,” she stated.
She further clarified that there is no producer or director she is unwilling to work with, provided the storyline and her role do not conflict with her religious convictions.
“So I want to clear the air. There is absolutely no producer or director I cannot work with. I am open and willing to work with anyone, as long as the story and my role do not go against my consecration to God,” Olayode added.
