NFF Begins Contract Extension Talks With Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to open negotiations with Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, over a possible extension of his contract.

The move follows approval reportedly granted by the National Sports Commission (NSC) for discussions to commence.

Chelle, who assumed charge of the Super Eagles in 2025, has previously expressed his readiness to continue in the role. The coach is said to have reiterated his deep passion for Nigerian football, recalling that his admiration for the national team dates back to the 1990s when he first “fell in love” with the Super Eagles.

The planned talks come amid speculation linking Chelle with interest from Tunisia. Reports had claimed that the Tunisian Football Federation made enquiries about his availability, raising questions about his future with Nigeria. However, the NFF’s decision to begin extension talks appears aimed at ensuring stability and fending off external interest.

Under Chelle’s leadership, the Super Eagles have displayed resilience and strong tactical discipline, qualities that have earned him praise from fans and football analysts alike.

The Super Eagles, under Chelle, recently finished third at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Morocco.
