Chippa United have confirmed the departure of Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, following his formal request to leave the South African club.
The Port Elizabeth-based side disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X account on Thursday, noting that the 28-year-old goalkeeper submitted a transfer request which was approved after careful consideration by the club’s management.
“Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release,” the statement said.
The club expressed appreciation for Nwabali’s service, professionalism and commitment during his time with the Chilli Boys.
“We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated,” the statement added.
Chippa United also wished the Nigerian international success in the next phase of his career.
Nwabali joined the South African side in 2022 and gained widespread recognition following his impressive performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up. His next destination is yet to be officially announced.
