Tinubu Honors Legacy of Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, Pillar of Nigerian Navy Leadership

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, Chief of Naval Operations of the Nigerian Navy, who passed away on February 19, 2026, after a protracted illness.

In a condolence message, President Tinubu extended his sympathies to Katagum’s family, officers and men of the Nigerian Navy, and the leadership of the Armed Forces, describing the loss as a significant blow to both the military and the nation.

“Rear Admiral Katagum’s vast experience and invaluable contributions to the Nigerian Navy and the Armed Forces at large will be deeply missed,” the President stated.

Throughout his distinguished career, Rear Admiral Katagum held several key positions, including Director of Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre (PC4), and Chief of Intelligence of the Nigerian Navy, before being appointed Chief of Operations in November 2025.

President Tinubu lauded the late officer for his courage, exemplary leadership, and mentorship of an entire generation of naval officers. He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant him eternal rest and provide comfort to his family and colleagues in the military during this period of mourning.
