The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the death of one of its personnel, Ogbodo Ene Victoria, who reportedly died after being struck by an operational vehicle during a simulation exercise in Abuja.
The tragic incident occurred during a coordinated show-of-force drill held at the Corps’ National Headquarters as part of activities marking World Civil Defence Day.
Confirming the development, NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale said the Corps was deeply saddened by the loss and had extended condolences to the deceased officer’s family, colleagues, and loved ones.
The Commandant General was said to have expressed shock over the incident, describing it as a painful loss to the Corps and assuring that appropriate burial arrangements would be made to honour the fallen officer.
The NSCDC noted that the exercise was part of routine operational preparedness designed to enhance personnel readiness and coordination, stressing that the unfortunate incident occurred despite safety measures put in place for the drill.
The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its personnel and pledged continued support to the bereaved family during the period of mourning.
