Six Osun Reps Dump PDP for Accord Party in Fresh Political Shake-Up

Six members of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from Osun State have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Accord Party, marking a significant political shift ahead of the state’s forthcoming governorship election.

The lawmakers announced their defection during a stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo, saying the decision was reached collectively to align with Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the Accord Party platform.

Speaking for the group, Clement Akanni formally declared the move, stating:
“On behalf of Mahruf Adewale representing Osogbo Federal Constituency, Bamidele Salam, Ede Federal Constituency, Soji Adetunji Ikirun Federal Constituency, Mudashiru Lukman Alani, Iwo Federal Constituency, Lanre Oladebo Irewole Isokan Federal Constituency, all of us from today have moved to the Accord Party.”

He said the defection underscores their commitment to consolidating grassroots support and ensuring electoral victory for the governor, while urging party loyalists to remain vigilant and closely monitor electoral processes during the polls.

The lawmakers expressed confidence that their new platform offers a stronger structure to pursue development initiatives and better represent their constituencies.

Political observers say the development reflects a widening realignment within Osun’s political space, as alliances continue to shift in anticipation of the next governorship contest.
