United States President Donald Trump on Monday announced a halt to previously threatened military strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, citing “very good and productive” discussions with Iran.
In a statement posted in all capital letters on his Truth Social platform, Trump revealed that both countries had engaged in constructive conversations over the past two days aimed at achieving “a complete and total resolution” of hostilities in the Middle East.
He noted that, based on the “tenor and tone” of the ongoing dialogue, he had directed the Department of War to suspend any planned attacks on Iranian power plants and energy facilities for a period of five days.
According to him, the pause in military action is conditional and subject to the outcome of continued negotiations, which are expected to proceed throughout the week.
