Wike Says PDP Hasn’t Learned from Internal Crisis, Pledges Support for Tinubu’s Second Term

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to learn from the ongoing political crisis within the party, while affirming his commitment to support President Bola Tinubu in his bid for a second term.

Wike made the remarks during his first monthly media parley of 2026 in Abuja.

“As it is today, my party seems to have not learned, and I am also going to support the President for a second term in office,” he said.

He further explained that his support would be directed at candidates who back the president, regardless of their political party.

“I didn’t beat around the bush when I said that as a minister, my party never asked me about the candidates they were planning to put forward, and I made it clear that I would only support candidates who backed the president. I never said I would support that particular party, but I did say I would support candidates who are in favour of Mr President, regardless of which party they are from. That’s where I’m going to focus my support,” Wike stated.

He added that accusations of him working for another group were unfounded, reiterating that his priority remains supporting candidates aligned with the president’s agenda.
