DJ Association Denies Ban on Burna Boy’s Music, Disowns Viral Claims After DJ Tunez Incident

The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has refuted reports alleging it placed a ban on music by Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy following a reported altercation involving DJ Tunez, describing the claims as false, misleading, and without official backing.

In a statement issued on Thursday, DJAN’s National President, Prince Akim Edeh, clarified that no directive was issued restricting the playback or promotion of Burna Boy’s songs by DJs across the country.

Edeh said the association had taken note of reports surrounding an alleged incident involving a disc jockey and the singer, stressing that DJAN maintains a strong stance against any form of violence or physical confrontation within the entertainment industry.

“We are currently monitoring ongoing investigations. DJAN remains committed to fostering a healthy and collaborative environment between all practitioners and performing artists within the music space,” he stated.

He further urged members of the public to disregard the rumour of any ban, reiterating that no such sanction exists against Burna Boy or any other artiste.

DJAN also clarified that DJ Tunez is not a registered member of the association, while calling for calm and restraint as relevant authorities continue their investigations into the incident.

“We urge the public to remain calm and allow the relevant authorities to investigate the matter. We didn’t and have no intention to place a ban on Burna Boy’s music or any other artist,” Edeh added.
