DJ Neptune has raised alarms about the rising influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in music, predicting that the technology could soon “retire” human producers.
His comments came in response to media personality N6, who recently took to X to warn that AI is quietly reshaping the music production and mastering industry. N6 wrote: “AI is quietly about to retire the entire music production and mastering industry. I have seen scary tinz tonight. God help all of us in this ecosystem.”
Reacting to this, DJ Neptune shared a personal experience that left him stunned. He recounted being sent a record for feedback, which he believed was extraordinary and urged the sender to sign the artist only to learn it was entirely AI-generated.
“I dey tell you. Someone sent me a record to listen to some days ago and give me my feedback. After listening, I told the guy to sign the artist cos what I heard was out of this world. That’s how my guy said na AI work. E shook me o,” he revealed.
AI is rapidly becoming a key tool in music creation, helping both emerging and established artists, producers, and sound engineers craft beats, enhance vocals, and refine overall sound quality. In recognition of this trend, the Recording Academy recently updated its rules, allowing songs with AI elements to be eligible for Grammys as long as there is significant human contribution.
