Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé is a doubt for the upcoming El Clásico on May 10 after the club confirmed on Monday that he has sustained a thigh injury.
In a statement, Los Blancos said: “He has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg,” following the France captain’s withdrawal during Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Real Betis in La Liga last Friday.
Madrid, who sit second in the Spanish top flight 11 points behind leaders FC Barcelona, are scheduled to face RCD Espanyol on Sunday before taking on the Catalan giants the following weekend.
The injury puts Mbappé’s availability for the high-profile clash in serious doubt as Real Madrid await further updates on his recovery, Dip Connect Online News reports.
