Godswill Akpabio represented President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning of the Opebi-Ojota Link Bridge and the e-GIS complex in Lagos State engagement. Addressing remarks by Tajudeen Olusi, who expressed a wish to see the president at the event, Akpabio said:
"You would have loved to see your son, President Bola Tinubu, yet you also knew one day he would lead Nigeria. That means sometimes he may not be available because of the exigencies of his office," he remarked.
Akpabio further emphasized his suitability to represent the president, highlighting his personal ties to Lagos and deep knowledge of the city’s neighborhoods and infrastructure.
"You wonder why the Senate President came to represent the president in Lagos… I have lived here for 30 years, know the streets, the communities, and the projects. I am well positioned to attest to the transformation of Lagos and relay the significance of these projects to a national audience," he added.
The event drew numerous political figures, including governors, federal lawmakers, and prominent Lagos leaders such as Speaker of the State Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun, and Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
