Beyoncé Returns in Style, Co-Chairs 2026 Met Gala with Star-Studded Family Moment

Global superstar Beyoncé made a highly anticipated return to fashion’s biggest night after a decade-long absence, co-chairing the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, May 4, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The annual fundraiser for the Costume Institute widely regarded as one of the most prestigious events in the global fashion calendar was themed “Costume Art” with the dress code “Fashion Is Art.” The event also marked the opening exhibition for the institute’s new permanent galleries.

Beyoncé shared co-chair duties with Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, leading a glamorous and star-studded evening.

She arrived on the red carpet accompanied by her husband, Jay-Z, and their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who made her Met Gala debut.

In a video interview shared via Instagram on Tuesday by Beysgroove, Beyoncé expressed joy at experiencing the iconic event alongside her daughter, noting how meaningful it was to see the occasion through her eyes. She also highlighted her appreciation for the theme’s celebration of the human body in all its forms.

“It feels surreal to be here because my daughter is here and it is incredible to share this with her,” she said.

For the evening, the singer wore a custom gown designed by Olivier Rousteing of Balmain. The striking outfit featured a skin-tone mesh base adorned with an intricate diamond skeleton design, paired with matching gloves.

The 2026 Met Gala drew widespread attention as Beyoncé’s first appearance at the event since 2016, with many observers describing it as the beginning of a new era following her Cowboy Carter project.

Other highlights from the night included family appearances such as Nicole Kidman attending with her daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. The red carpet also showcased standout interpretations of the theme, from sculptural, body-focused designs to tributes to classical art.

Among the most talked-about arrivals was Rihanna, who made a characteristically late but impactful entrance in a bold couture look.
