Nigerian comedian De General has weighed in on the issue of rising insecurity in the country, saying protests are no longer an effective way to drive change in Nigeria.
He made the comments during a livestream conversation with TikToker Johbad, where they discussed the state of the nation and growing public frustration.
De General argued that past protests did not achieve meaningful results, noting that many lives were lost during such demonstrations without any visible impact or response from authorities.
“Staging a protest won’t solve anything. There is no effect in staging a protest. The last time we protested, lives were lost but they said nothing happened,” he said during the livestream.
He maintained that Nigerians would have better results if they focused on the electoral process rather than street action.
According to him, obtaining Permanent Voter Cards and voting during free and fair elections remains the most practical way for citizens to influence leadership and bring about change in the country.
