Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has spoken out against the growing trend of people sharing private messages and old direct messages after someone’s death, describing the practice as unfair and misleading.
In a message that quickly went viral, the actress said she does not support the idea of digging up private conversations after a person has passed away, especially when such messages are used to shape public opinion about them.
Speaking with a mix of humour and seriousness, she warned that anyone who tries to post her private messages after her death would “hear from her,” jokingly adding that she would come back to “slap them” before returning to the grave, a comment that sparked widespread reactions online.
Beyond the humour, Etinosa stressed that people often distort narratives after death by selectively sharing information that suits them, while ignoring the full context of relationships and conversations.
She also addressed film producers directly, recalling how she previously reached out to some of them for acting opportunities but received no response. She cautioned that such private attempts should not later be used to create a different impression after her passing.
According to her, if those messages were ignored at the time, they should remain private, warning against what she described as the tendency to rewrite history after someone is gone.
