Gunmen Abduct Oyo School Principal, Students in Early Morning Raid

Suspected gunmen on Friday invaded Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting the principal of a secondary school alongside an unspecified number of students.

The attack occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed in a statement that the armed attackers stormed the school premises and whisked away several students whose exact number has yet to be determined, as well as the school principal, Mrs. Rachael Alamu.

According to reports, one of the teachers was also shot during the invasion, although the severity of the injury remains unclear.

The police spokesperson revealed that the gunmen escaped with the principal in her vehicle before fleeing into a forest reserve located near the community.

Residents of the area reportedly lamented that the nearest police station is far from the community, a situation they said delayed an immediate security response during the attack.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police has deployed security personnel to the area to carry out assessments and intensify rescue operations aimed at securing the release of the abducted victims.
