Nigerian music artiste Ice Prince has responded to the criticism that followed his appearance at the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.
The rapper was heavily criticised by some Nigerians who felt his performance at the ruling party’s event was inappropriate, especially at a time when the country is facing insecurity and economic hardship.
Others also argued that public figures like entertainers should avoid partisan political platforms and instead focus on holding leaders accountable through their influence.
In a recent episode of the Black Box podcast, Ice Prince explained that his decision to perform at the event was not driven by politics but by personal connections.
He revealed that the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, is his uncle, adding that the family relationship played a role in accepting the invitation.
According to him, “Who booked me for that event? My uncle – Nentawe Yilwatda who is the APC Chairman. He is not just a random person to me. He is my real uncle.”
