The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released 279 results from the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that were earlier withheld over suspected examination malpractice. The examination body, however, said investigations are still ongoing into several cases linked to suspicious activities recorded at some examination centres across the country.
JAMB explained that the decision to release the results followed a detailed review of cases flagged during and after the conduct of the examination. According to the board, some candidates were cleared after investigators found no evidence directly connecting them to malpractice during the exercise.
In a statement signed by its Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the board noted that while some withheld results had now been released, others had been cancelled after evidence confirmed examination malpractice. The board stressed that it remains committed to protecting the credibility and integrity of the UTME process.
JAMB further disclosed that results from centres currently under scrutiny by its live monitoring team, as well as centres linked to adverse security and technical reports, would remain withheld until investigations are concluded. It warned that any candidate found guilty during the review process would have his or her result cancelled.
“The release follows ongoing investigations into cases of suspected examination malpractice. While some results have been outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, others have been released where the Board found no prima facie case against the affected candidates,” the statement read.
The board advised candidates whose results are still pending to check their status by sending “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration. The development comes as JAMB intensifies efforts to curb examination fraud and strengthen public confidence in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process.
