Niniola Apata is grieving the loss of her husband, Michael Ndika, following news of his passing which she revealed in a series of deeply emotional posts shared on her Instagram story in the early hours of Wednesday.
Ndika, who served as the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on Afro-house and contemporary African music, reportedly died. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been disclosed publicly.
In her posts, the singer expressed her shock and pain in simple but emotional words, writing, “God took him,” and later confirming, “My husband died.” In another message, she reflected on their long relationship, writing, “13 years. 13 f***ing years,” alongside photos of the couple.
The singer has not shared further details about what led to his passing, choosing instead to keep her personal life private while processing the loss away from the public eye.
Niniola, 39, rose to fame after her appearance on Project Fame West Africa in 2013, which opened the door to her music career in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
She has built a strong reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading Afro-house voices, with her 2017 breakout hit “Maradona” gaining international attention and earning praise from global stars including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
