Cleric Dolapo Lawal has cautioned Nigerians against the growing trend of relocating abroad, describing it as a decision often driven by social pressure and unrealistic expectations.
Speaking during a recent church service, Lawal criticised what he termed a lack of proper planning among many individuals seeking opportunities outside the country.
“It’s a foolish thinking. Because you are seeing people taking pictures in the UK you think they are okay? Now you go there and get stranded there but you cannot come back because of shame,” he said.
The pastor warned that social media frequently presents a misleading image of life abroad, creating the impression that success is guaranteed outside Nigeria.
“How many people have gone to the UK and become a millionaire there? You better wake up,” he added.
He further advised Nigerians to carefully reconsider drastic decisions such as selling their properties at home in pursuit of relocation, particularly for care-related jobs abroad, urging them to make informed and well-planned choices.
