Sowore Questions Tinubu’s Nomination Process as Umahi Submits ₦100m Presidential Forms

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has raised concerns over the process surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, questioning why other individuals are handling and submitting his nomination forms.

Sowore’s reaction followed the signing and submission of Tinubu’s presidential nomination forms, valued at ₦100 million, by the Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, Umahi said the endorsement reflects a commitment to continuity and consolidation of the administration’s achievements.

He described the nomination form signing as “a defining moment in Nigeria’s ongoing development journey,” adding that it represents “a collective commitment to continuity, stability, and the consolidation of gains recorded under the current administration.”

Umahi further stated that President Tinubu’s leadership has driven significant infrastructure reforms, especially in road construction and rehabilitation, which he said are vital to economic growth. He added that the president is “well positioned to complete ongoing initiatives and further deepen development across all sectors,” while urging continued public support, stressing that “consistent leadership is essential to achieving long-term national goals.”

Reacting via his verified X handle on Tuesday, Sowore questioned why Tinubu’s election forms were being filled by others in his absence.

He also raised concerns about whether this practice was intended to distance the President from the documentation, particularly regarding his qualifications.

“Why is someone always filling Tinubu’s @officialABAT election forms for him when he isn’t there? Is it so he can distance himself when they fill in his dubious qualifications or lack thereof?” Sowore wrote.
