Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would only lose the 2027 general elections if voting were conducted on social media platforms rather than at polling units, Dip Connects Online News reports.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television that began trending on Sunday, Sani argued that online narratives do not accurately reflect the real strength of candidates where it matters most—at the ballot.
“If the election is going to be conducted on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or social media, Asiwaju will lose, but if it is people who will vote through the ballot at polling units, he is going to win 70% of the votes,” he said.
The governor’s remarks come amid intensifying political discussions ahead of the 2027 elections, as well as sustained online support for Labour Party figure Peter Obi, who enjoyed significant digital backing before and after the 2023 presidential poll.
Sani maintained that while social media remains influential in shaping opinions, it does not necessarily translate into actual votes during elections, emphasizing the importance of grassroots political engagement and voter turnout.
