Anambra First Lady Calls for Greater Support for Entrepreneurs

Anambra State First Lady, Nonye Soludo, has called for increased support and empowerment for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), describing them as the foundation of thriving economies and major contributors to employment, innovation, and inclusive economic development.

She emphasised that entrepreneurs play a vital role in driving economic progress, noting that their creativity and business ideas generate jobs, strengthen families, and promote sustainable growth.

Soludo made the remarks in a message shared on her Facebook page on Saturday to commemorate the 2026 International Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day, observed worldwide on June 27.

She praised entrepreneurs for their resilience, innovation, and determination, saying their efforts continue to build stronger communities and contribute significantly to economic prosperity.

"Today, we celebrate the resilience, innovation and determination of entrepreneurs whose ideas create jobs, strengthen families and drive sustainable economic growth," she said.

She stressed the need for continuous investment in small businesses, noting that thriving MSMEs are essential for the growth and prosperity of communities.

"Let us continue to support and empower MSMEs because when small businesses thrive, our communities prosper. Today is International Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day.

"The celebration underscores the importance of empowering entrepreneurs through policies and initiatives that expand access to markets, skills development and business opportunities," she added.

International Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day is observed annually to highlight the significant contributions of MSMEs to sustainable development and the global economy.

The theme for the 2026 celebration is "Human-Centred Entrepreneurship in an AI-Driven Future: Economic Empowerment for the Next Generation of MSMEs."
