Armed Bandits Attack Ondo Community, Abduct Pastor’s Nine-Year-Old Son

Armed bandits have invaded the Igbosi area of Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, destroying property and abducting a nine-year-old boy during an early morning attack on Friday.

The attackers were said to have stormed the community around 1am, firing sporadic gunshots to scare residents before destroying two buildings. They reportedly forced their way into homes during the raid and whisked the child away to an unknown destination.

The abducted boy, identified as Oluwatobi, is the son of a pastor in the community, Isaac Olaosebikan. Residents said panic spread quickly as the gunshots intensified, forcing many people to flee their homes into nearby communities for safety.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abayomi, said a manhunt had been launched to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible. He said the command received reports of the attack in the early hours of Friday, noting that armed men invaded Ugbosi Quarters, Idogun, firing shots and causing widespread panic.

According to the police statement, the attackers reportedly forced their way into the residence of Olaosebikan Isaac, who escaped into the bush in a bid to save his life, leaving his nine-year-old son, Master Olaosebikan, who was abducted. Another resident, Joel Owalekan, also had his house damaged during the attack but escaped unharmed.

The police added that tactical teams, intelligence units, and Amotekun operatives had been deployed for a coordinated search-and-rescue operation. Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu has also ordered intensified efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the child and the arrest of the perpetrators, while investigations into the incident continue.
