Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has transmitted the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to the Rivers State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and approval.
The Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, confirmed the receipt of the document during an emergency plenary session held on Thursday morning.
Following the presentation of the framework, lawmakers postponed discussions on the document to a later date before adjourning the sitting.
The latest session marked the first time the Assembly had convened in about four months. The lawmakers last met in February when they screened commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Fubara. After that exercise, the Assembly adjourned indefinitely.
Before then, the House had held a sitting on January 8, 2026, during which impeachment proceedings were initiated against Governor Fubara. The Assembly subsequently adjourned and did not reconvene on its scheduled resumption date of February 15.
Further details are expected.
