Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Domingo Michael Adeleke, has died in Geneva, Switzerland, after a brief illness.
Adeleke was part of Nigeria’s delegation attending the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) when he reportedly became ill.
He was said to have received medical attention after falling sick but later passed away despite efforts to stabilise his condition.
His death was confirmed by an official of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who described him as a committed trade unionist dedicated to improving the welfare of workers across the country.
According to the official statement, Adeleke’s passing occurred on the same day he died in Geneva while participating in the international labour meeting alongside other Nigerian delegates.
A member of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Adeleke served as chairman of the Lagos State JNC and was widely involved in labour advocacy, workers’ welfare initiatives, and the promotion of decent work and social justice throughout his career.
