Shatta Wale Credits Ghana for Wealth, Says Local Shows Pay Better Than Foreign Offers

Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has said that Ghana played the biggest role in his financial success, stating that he built his wealth through opportunities and recognition available in the country’s entertainment industry.

Speaking about his career, the singer described himself as an international act and expressed confidence that he can earn up to $1 million in Ghana, crediting the country’s strong appreciation for music and performance.

“I didn’t get rich anywhere, I got rich in Ghana,” he said, adding that he enjoys significant respect from political leaders, ministers, event organisers and fans across the country.

Shatta Wale compared the level of recognition he receives locally to that of global music icons such as Jay-Z and Beyoncé, noting that organisers in Ghana ensure his shows are well-funded and professionally executed.

He explained that earnings from performances in Ghana have allowed him to maintain a comfortable lifestyle for over a decade, adding that local promoters often invest more heavily in his shows than some international organisers.

According to him, he frequently turns down overseas offers, including payments of between £20,000 and £30,000 for shows in cities like London, because he earns more and receives better value at home in Ghana, where he says promoters adequately reward artistes.
