Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has awarded a comprehensive scholarship to Chiazo Umeaniba, a student of Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnewi, after she achieved an outstanding score of 344 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The governor announced the scholarship on Sunday during the first anniversary celebration of Solution Fun City in Awka.
The award came after Umeaniba, who serves as the senior prefect of her school, participated as one of the dancers entertaining guests at the event. Soludo was later informed of her exceptional UTME performance.
Announcing the scholarship, the governor said it would cover all her educational expenses from her undergraduate studies through to the completion of a PhD programme.
"Your education from undergraduate to PhD is on me. Yes, the bill is on me. I was also a senior prefect like you, and I made the best result.
"You know why I'm touched: I was a senior prefect like her, I went into the university and graduated with a first-class honours degree, winning all the departmental and faculty prizes.
"I also hope that she, as a senior prefect who scored 344 in the UTME, will graduate with a first-class honours degree. I will pay for everything. Even after my tenure as governor, I will continue to sponsor her education," Soludo said.
The governor also highlighted the success of Solution Fun City, which was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in May 2025 and officially opened to the public on June 28, 2025.
According to him, the facility has grown into a multi-generational recreational destination designed to cater to people from all social backgrounds across the state.
Soludo explained that the project forms part of his administration's broader vision of positioning Anambra as a leading destination for tourism and investment. He added that more infrastructure projects are underway to further boost the state's economic potential.
He noted that the success of Solution Fun City has already attracted greater investor interest in large-scale developments, including residential estates and industrial cities, while assuring that his administration would continue expanding the facility to sustain its appeal.
Also speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Solution Fun City, Chiamaka Nnake, described the project as a clear reflection of Governor Soludo's vision and commitment to delivering meaningful development to the people of Anambra.
She revealed that between late December and mid-January, the recreational centre recorded an average of 10,000 visitors daily, attracting guests from within Anambra State and other parts of the country.
An excited Umeaniba expressed her gratitude to Governor Soludo for the scholarship, while the anniversary celebration featured cultural displays and various recreational activities.
