Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has said President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms have significantly increased the resources available to state governments for development projects and improved service delivery.
Onanuga made the remark in Umuahia, Abia State, during a reception held for participants of the Renewed Hope Projects media tour. The initiative was designed to give journalists and stakeholders firsthand access to federal and state government projects across the country.
According to him, the tour provides an opportunity for objective assessment of major infrastructure and development projects while highlighting the benefits of collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments. He noted that increased revenues have enabled states to undertake projects that directly improve the lives of citizens.
Abia State Governor Alex Otti, represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, described the media tour as an important platform for promoting transparency, accountability, and public awareness of government policies and projects. He urged journalists to provide accurate, balanced, and truthful reports that help citizens understand government efforts.
Otti said his administration has focused on rebuilding public trust through transparent governance, infrastructure renewal, improved security, education, healthcare, and support for businesses. He added that the progress recorded over the past three years is evident in the growing confidence of residents and ongoing transformation across communities in the state.
Also speaking, Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, urged members of the media team to approach the assignment with professionalism, objectivity, and commitment to truth. He noted that their reports would play a key role in shaping public understanding of government efforts to address challenges and improve the lives of Nigerians.
