The Nigerian entertainment industry is mourning the death of veteran actor, filmmaker, and comedian Okiki Adesina, popularly known as Janmole, who reportedly died in a fatal road accident on Monday. His passing has left colleagues, fans, and loved ones in shock.
The sad news was announced by the President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, better known as Mr Latin. In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, the filmmaker confirmed the actor’s death and expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
Paying tribute to the late entertainer, Mr Latin described Janmole’s death as a painful tragedy and prayed for strength and comfort for those he left behind. He also acknowledged the impact the actor made during his years in the Nigerian film industry.
“May the soul of our departed colleague, Adesina Okiki Janmole, who tragically lost his life in an accident, rest in perfect peace. May God grant his family, friends, and colleagues the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss. He will be greatly missed. Amen,” he wrote.
Janmole was widely celebrated for his contributions to the Yoruba movie industry, where he built a reputation for his captivating performances and comic talent. He gained recognition through roles in popular productions such as Agunbaniro, Ìyàwó Asante, and Ọgbọ́n Inu. In recent years, he also expanded his reach through TikTok, where he attracted a growing audience with his creative content.
The news of his passing has since sparked an outpouring of tributes from fellow actors, filmmakers, and fans who remember him as a gifted entertainer whose contributions to Nollywood and Yoruba cinema will not be forgotten.
