Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has come under intense scrutiny on social media after leading supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at a solidarity rally in Abuja, where participants, largely drawn from the Nollywood industry, praised the administration’s performance in infrastructure and security while also calling for an end to kidnappings across the country.
The rally was organised by the Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN) movement under the slogan “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.” It followed a large medical outreach programme that offered free consultations, treatment and medication to hundreds of residents, particularly low-income earners.
Orji, who serves as Deputy Director-General of the movement, addressed journalists at the event and urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reform agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the rally, participating Nollywood personalities commended the administration’s efforts in key sectors, including infrastructure development and security, while also acknowledging the need for urgent action to address ongoing cases of kidnappings in parts of the country.
The event, however, comes amid heightened public concern over insecurity, with recent abductions reported in states such as Oyo and Borno. Nigerians are also grappling with economic hardship driven by inflation and the rising cost of living.
Zack Orji’s involvement in the political mobilisation has since triggered mixed reactions online, with supporters praising the outreach initiative while critics questioned the timing of the endorsement against the backdrop of national challenges.
