The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across the Commission.
According to the Commission, the recruitment is aimed at strengthening its institutional capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics, data management, and other critical functions required to deliver credible elections across the country.
The vacancies are available in three major categories:
Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12), including positions for lawyers, clinical officers, IT officers, engineers, accountants and other professionals.
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08.
Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 07.
For the Professional Cadre, applicants are required to possess a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent, a Master's degree in a relevant field, applicable professional certifications where necessary, and a valid NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate.
Candidates applying for the Administrative Officer II position must hold a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized institution, alongside strong communication, record-keeping, and ICT skills.
Applicants for the Executive Officer position are expected to possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or an equivalent qualification, basic computer knowledge, and good organizational and communication skills.
In addition to the specific qualifications, all applicants must be Nigerian citizens, at least 18 years old, computer literate, medically fit, and possess a valid Certificate of State of Origin duly signed by the Chairman or Secretary of their Local Government. Applicants must also not be older than 35 years at the time of application, must have good character with no criminal conviction, and be willing to serve in any part of the Federation.
INEC stated that applications must be submitted online through its recruitment portal at https://inecrecruitment.inecnigeria.org�. Interested applicants are required to visit the portal, access the "Career with Us" section, complete the online application form, upload all required credentials, and submit their applications electronically.
The Commission emphasized that the recruitment process is free of charge and warned applicants against submitting multiple applications, as doing so will result in automatic disqualification. It also cautioned that falsification or forgery of documents will attract disqualification and possible prosecution.
INEC further noted that only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
The application window opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026.
The Commission urged all eligible Nigerians interested in contributing to the nation's electoral system to submit their applications within the stipulated period.
