LFTZ Customs Generates N408.8bn Revenue in First Half of 2026

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command, has announced that it generated a total of N408.8 billion in revenue between January and June 2026.

The disclosure was made by the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Hauwa Abubakar, during the 2026 Half-Year Media Briefing held at the command headquarters in Lekki.

According to Abubakar, the revenue represents an increase of N91.54 billion over the N317.3 billion collected during the corresponding period in 2025, reflecting a 28.85 per cent growth in revenue performance.

"Between January and June 2026, the command generated a total revenue of N408.8 billion. This represents an increase of N91.54 billion when compared to the N317.3 billion collected during the corresponding period in 2025, amounting to an impressive 28.85 per cent increase in revenue performance," she said.

The Customs Area Controller attributed the remarkable performance to deliberate operational strategies focused on improving compliance, enhancing efficiency and strengthening collaboration with stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zones and Lekki Deep Seaport.

She explained that the command's continuous engagement with stakeholders has fostered trust and encouraged voluntary compliance with existing customs laws and regulations.

According to her, sustained dialogue, education and collaboration have created an enabling environment for legitimate trade to thrive while safeguarding government revenue.

Abubakar also praised the professionalism, discipline and dedication of officers and personnel of the command, noting that their commitment has played a major role in achieving the impressive revenue figures and strengthening the confidence of the business community in the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service.

She further disclosed that the command recorded its highest monthly revenue collection since its establishment in June 2026, generating N87.10 billion.

According to the CAC, the record-breaking monthly performance reflects the command's growing operational capacity and increasing confidence among investors and stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zones and the Lekki Deep Seaport.

Abubakar commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his visionary leadership and continued confidence in the command.

She also acknowledged the support and cooperation of other security and regulatory agencies operating within the port and Free Trade Zones, saying the strong partnership among the agencies has enhanced security and facilitated legitimate trade in line with the Federal Government's economic objectives.

The Customs boss equally appreciated investors, licensed customs agents, importers, exporters and members of the business community for their continued cooperation, describing their partnership as vital to the command's achievements.

She urged stakeholders to sustain the collaborative relationship as the command works towards achieving even greater success in the second half of the year.

"As we look ahead to the second half of the year, we are determined to consolidate on these achievements, improve service delivery, and surpass our performance targets without compromising our statutory responsibilities," she said.

Abubakar noted that since its establishment four years ago, the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command has evolved into a model for trade facilitation within the Nigeria Customs Service.

She added that the command's commitment to efficient trade processes and operational excellence has improved the ease of doing business while positioning it among the country's leading revenue-generating customs commands.
