The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) saw its aggregate market value fall on Monday as trading ended in negative territory.
According to market data reported by DIP CONNECT ONLINE NEWS, the All-Share Index (ASI) dipped 0.07% to end at 242,454.65 points, down from Friday's 242,619.20 points. Consequently, equity market capitalization shrank by N106.24bn to close at N156.52tn, down from the previous session's N156.62tn. Over the five-day trading period, the ASI averaged 243,756.38 points, peaking at 246,723.57 points and hitting a low of 242,454.65 points.
Sector & Index Performance
Most sectoral and thematic indices experienced slight downturns:
NGX Main-Board Index: Dropped to 10,910.62 points
NGX 30 Index: Closed at 8,890.47 points
NGX Premium Index: Slipped to 28,662.38 points
NGX Banking Index: Settled at 2,536.29 points
NGX Insurance Index: Stood at 1,112.05 points
NGX Industrial Index: Remained virtually unchanged at 10,378.76 points
Bucking the downward trend, the NGX Consumer Goods Index advanced from 4,037.91 to 4,055.29 points, while the NGX Sovereign Bond Index edged up to 670.82 points.
Trading Volume & Top Stocks
Overall equity trading yielded a total volume of 1.33 billion shares traded across 45,439 deals. The Main Board accounted for the bulk of activity with 1.24 billion shares exchanged in 25,549 transactions, followed by the Premium Board with 72.48 million shares across 16,705 deals.
