The Federal Government has assured parents, guardians, students and other stakeholders that all Federal Unity Colleges across the country will reopen for academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as earlier scheduled.
The Federal Ministry of Education said necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a safe, orderly and seamless commencement of the new academic session in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, gave the assurance while emphasising that the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain a major priority of the Federal Government.
According to the Minister, the government remains committed to creating a secure and conducive environment where teaching and learning can take place without unnecessary disruptions.
Dr. Alausa disclosed that relevant security agencies have been duly briefed on the resumption plans and are maintaining heightened vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.
He explained that the coordinated security efforts are designed to protect students, staff and members of the wider school communities as academic activities resume across the country.
The Minister consequently appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm, depend on information released through official channels and continue their preparations for the resumption. He urged them to ensure that their children and wards return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday, September 14, as scheduled.
Dr. Alausa also directed the management of the schools to sustain close collaboration with relevant security agencies and other appropriate authorities to guarantee an orderly and secure reopening of the colleges.
He called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to contribute collectively to maintaining a peaceful, supportive and secure learning environment.
The Minister stressed that protecting learners and ensuring their wellbeing is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of all members of the school community.
The Federal Ministry of Education, meanwhile, said it would continue to monitor developments across the country and take all necessary steps, in partnership with relevant authorities, to guarantee the safe and smooth continuation of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria's education system and ensuring that children across the country have access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment.
It stated that the commitment is consistent with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places education and human capital development among the critical pillars for sustainable national growth and development.
The Federal Ministry of Education therefore reiterated its assurance to students, parents, guardians, teachers, school administrators and the general public that adequate arrangements have been made for a safe, peaceful and successful resumption in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
